Mr. Bond, having served on the Board since 1983, became Vice Chairman in 1996.  A second generation hotelier, Mr. Bond owned and managed several hotels in the St. Petersburg area.  He served as president of the Florida Hotel and Motel Association in 1982 and was awarded the title of “Hotelier of the Year” in 1990.  He has been active in several civic functions including the St. Petersburg Chapter of the American Red Cross, St. Petersburg Yacht Club, Suncoasters, and president of the St. Petersburg Rotary Club.  Mr. Bond was appointed to fill a remaining term of office on the St. Petersburg City Council in 1980 followed by being elected to two terms.  He served as the city’s Vice Mayor from 1986 to 1988.  He served on a number of governmental agencies including the Pinellas County Tourist Development Council, Pinellas Planning Council, Metropolitan Planning Organization and the Florida League of Cities.
