First elected to the FHM Board of Directors in 1992, Mr. Healan was appointed Chairman in September 2007.  He serves as President of Amelia Island Company, which owns and operates Amelia Island Plantation.  Amelia Island Plantation is a 1,300 acre resort and residential community in northeast Florida known for developing real estate in harmony with nature.  Prior to joining Amelia Island Plantation, he held several senior positions with the Sea Pines Company in South Carolina.  Mr. Healan earned his Certified Hotel Administrator status through the American Hotel & Motel Association’s Educational Institute in 1984.  He serves as a Director of the Jacksonville Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, and he is also active in many professional associations.  He is a past President of the Florida Hotel & Motel Association and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association and the American Hotel & Lodging Association.  He has been a member of the American Hotel and Lodging Association’s Resort Committee since 1988, having served as its chairman in 2003.  He is a charter member of the Florida Commission on Tourism and Visit Florida, Inc.
